WHY CONLA? WHAT YOUR CONLA MEMBERSHIP DOES FOR YOU

CONLA:
  • Supports and assists individual cabin owners in negotiation with PacifiCorp on damages resulting from the lake removal such as wells, structural damage and earth movement.
  • Is a conduit for other stakeholders involved with the lands surrounding the White Salmon River (Mid-Columbia Fisheries, Underwood Conservation District, Friends of White Salmon etc.).
  • Works with both counties to monitor land use issues, potential changes and policy.
  • Works with local First Responders in the development, implementation and continual update of fire safety and evacuation plans in case of an emergency.
  • Maintains an active Fire Prevention Plan and coordinates the annual Chipper Program.
  • Gives CONLA cabin owners a voice with PacifiCorp regarding numerous issues such as lease negotiations, property management, dam removal impacts, aquifer changes, re-vegetation, hazardous trees, fire safety, etc.
  • Is developing and will coordinate a land purchase business plan in support of our Right of First Refusal to purchase PC lands.
  • Retains an attorney for legal advice and guidance.
  • Publishes a semi-annual newsletter and has built a web site to keep the members informed.
  • Provides and presents information about CONLA and its activities for groups such as Realtors, potential cabin purchasers, as well as community organizations and other interested parties.
